How do I set up grooming?
The quickest way to book a grooming appointment is to text a current photo of your dog to us, (614) 733-9596 – mention that you are interested in grooming and let us know if you have any scheduling preferences, like time of day or day of the week. Some other info we may ask for – age, approx weight, breed – we ask what outcome or hair cut you are looking for and will require up to date rabies vaccinations for all spa day visitors.
My dog doesn't like to be groomed and doesn't like other dogs, can you accommodate them?
We can! Most of the dogs we see have not had the best grooming experiences in the past and are terrified of the process – we are by appointment only, working one on one with each dog, at their pace – while other dogs may be on the property, the grooming space is private and only one household is serviced at a time.
Why is my dog's grooming more expensive than my hair cut?
Dog grooming is far more intensive than a human hair appointment – your hair cut stops with the hair on your head. A dog’s full-service groom is not only bathing, brushing and blow-drying their entire body, we are also -trimming and filing nails on four paws, shaving and trimming sanitary regions and in-between toe beans, cleaning and plucking ear hair, combing out eye boogers, de-matting, fluffing and then giving the haircut.
How do I book a stay for my dog?
The first step is checking to make sure we have availability for your dates & then setting up a meet and greet – once we know we are available and we can get a meet on the schedule, we can move forward.
How long is a meet and greet?
Meet and greets take place at Common Paws, they are usually 20-30 minutes, we meet in the yard (weather permitting) and let the dogs meet each other, sniff around the space. This ensures that everyone gets along and also makes it easier at drop off for your dog – they already know where they are, they’ve met everyone already, so they settle in pretty quick & we can get right to the fun!
Do you have a fenced in yard?
Yes! Our play space is rather spacious, spanning several fenced in acres, the dogs have ample space to run and play or simply lay on the deck in the sun!
Where will my dog sleep?
Where do they sleep at home? That question, will answer your question! We strive to create a home away from home vibe, so if your dog likes to sleep in their crate, they can sleep in “their crate” here. If they prefer to free roam or flop on the couch, that’s also totally fine – whatever works best for them, will work best for us!
What vaccinations are required?
For grooming appointments, we only require a current rabies vaccination.
For daycare and boarding we require:
Rabies, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Bordetella & Leptospirosis.
We understand everyone feels differently about their dog’s needs. These are the generalized core vaccinations required for any dogs to safely socialize with other dogs. We also highly recommend, but do not require, the Canine Influenza and Lymes Disease vaccinations, as well as monthly flea, tick & heartworm
prevention. Vaccination records and vet contact info is required before drop off.
What should I bring for my dog?
Whatever you think they need to be comfortable! Don’t feel pressured to send more than the basics -food, medication, a favorite bed or blanket or even a shirt of yours, just something that smells like home. You are welcome to send extra treats and toys, however, we do ask that you DO NOT send any real bones, raw hide type treats and no toys with any kind of sentimental value. We try to send home everything that came with them but sometimes the toys need to be retired before pick up.
What forms of payment do you take?
Cash, Venmo & all major credit cards. Note credit cards are subject to an additional 6% processing fee.
